Go By Streetcar

Did you know the Portland Streetcar was the first modern streetcar in this country!

Impressive! And this past summer marked it’s 10th anniversary.

The streetcar currently runs from the NW, to the Pearl, Old Town, Downtown, Portland State, RiverPlace and all the way to the South Waterfront district.

September 2012 the loop alignment that will connect Downtown to the Rose Quarter, Lloyd District, Convention Center, Central Eastside and OMSI will be complete.

Ride the streetcar and walk to one of your favorite restaurants.

We got as far as the common space in front of Aviary’s recently reopened restaurant on NE Alberta. Then we were sidetracked by the awesome photo op!  And a 2 yr old who was headed toward Salt & Straw to cash in on his clean plate reward.

Aviary and I have agreed to a grown ups only date in January!

After a scrumption brunch at The Woodsman Tavern of pan fried trout topped with a light bernaise sauce, elegantly perched on a nest of pan fried potatoes seasoned with diced sauteed red peppers and onions; and delightfully paired with a, body and mind warming, Hot Toddy – I wandered through Old Portland Hardware & Architectural.

The store houses a magnificent collection, over 5,000 sq. ft., of antique lighting, salvage, fixtures, windows, doors and “funky finds.” It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to add a little bit of history or a vintage architecturel element to a modern home or the perfect addition to an already charming vintage home; this store is a lovely way to spend an hour after brunch or whenever you happen to be in the neighborhood.
